Replacing a Valve Controller




If you are replacing a valve controller, the following steps within the Trident Platform are necessary. You will need proper login access to complete these steps.

  1. Update the old valve controller name 
  2. Change the status of the valve controller being replaced
  3. Note the connection names in Trident. Reconnect valve(s) to new device in same positions.
  4. Name the new valve controller and connections
  5. Add the new valve controller to the appropriate valve group(s) and notification group(s)




  1. Verify the serial number and name of the device being removed. From the device details page, go to the info tab. In the additional description field add "-REMOVED-" and the reason. Then select saveAdding this information to the name will help in future troubleshooting.

    1. Example: 
      REMOVED-LOST COMM
      Example: REMOVED-FAULTY

  2. When replacing a device, you will need to change the device status of the device being removed. This will remove it from notification groups and health reports.

    1. Go to the device details page of the sensor to be removed. Verify the serial number.
    2. Go to the status tab at the top of the device details page.
    3. Using the dropdown, select removed.
    4. Select Save.

  3. Note the name and connection(s) of the device being replaced. You will want to name the new device and connection(s) the same. Remember to connect the valves in the same positions on the new valve controller.
