Device Details View

Device Details View

The Device Details view will provide specific information for an individual device. Here you will be able to view the configuration, notifications and history of a device as well as make changes to a device name, variables, send messages, and change the status of a device.

Let's take a look at some of the sections of a device details page. This device details page is for a sensor.

  1. Name
Type of device and serial number
    Product number
  2. RF signal quality to the primary Hub. Endpoints can communicate to any Hub, however the system determines a primary Hub, during the registration process, for Heartbeats at regular intervals.
  3. Communication errors over the last 48 hours. These are referred to as missed heartbeats but differ from lost communication. A device will not report lost communication unless it misses consecutive Heartbeats and device heartbeat at different intervals (See Heartbeats solution article).

Device Detail Tabs

    1. Summary- Device information, settings, name, heartbeat, status
    2. Notifications- This tab will show notifications. To make changes to notifications, see solution articles directly below.
    1. Alarms- Alarm history for a device.
    2. Alerts- Battery and communication alert history.
    3. Info-Name a new device or edit an existing device location.
      1. You must have a building selected otherwise the device will be considered unnamed.
      2. Select a floor and secondary address (if applicable).
      3. Use the Room and Location dropdowns to select a location.
        1. If the option you desire is not available, use the additional description field.
      4. If Sensing cable is connected to a device, select the length of Sensing Cable.

    1. Variables- These are device settings which can be changed to meet customer use cases. View and make changes to device variables here.
    1. Messaging- Depending on the type of device, remote messages can be sent to a device.
Device messages may not be received immediately as they are dependent on the next device heartbeat.
    1. Status
      1. Active- (Default) Devices will be active in reports, notifications and within notification or valve groups.
      2. Temporarily Removed- Device will be removed from reports and notifications and will report lost communication. A temporarily removed device will still show in a notification or valve group but will have a temporarily removed flag indicating that it will not trigger a valve closure or notify. Changing the status back to active will automatically add a temporarily removed device back into any previously assigned notification or valve groups with no other steps needed.
      3. Permanently Removed- Device will be removed from reports and notifications and will report lost communication. A permanently removed device will be unselected from any notification or valve groups. Changing the status back to active will require you to assign it to any relevant notification or valve groups.
